PAST TRANSPLANT GAMES
Team Liberty has been attending the Transplant Games since 1996. Our team travels to a different US city every other year to spread the word about organ donation and transplantation.
2022 • San Diego
July 28-August 2, 2022
Team Liberty represented NJ, NY, and CT in San Diego, CA in July/August 2022 at the Donate Life Transplant Games of America. We brought home an inspiring 73 medals earned by recipients, living donors and, eligible for the first time, donor families. We had 81 team members in total in San Diego, including 30 transplant recipients, 9 living donors, 12 donor family members, and 30 supporters. Team Liberty competed with over 40 teams from across the country in individual and team sporting events. This was a spectacular event although slightly smaller than in previous years, with the pandemic at our heels. We had a fabulous time with our team members and those from other teams and were grateful to be in San Diego all together!
2020 • Meadowlands
July 16-19, 2021
Team Liberty represented NJ, NY, and CT at the Meadowlands in New Jersey in July 2021. Despite a global pandemic and a rescheduled Transplant Games, we seized this opportunity to spread the word in a public setting and interacted safely with visitors to the American Dream, to promote organ and tissue donation. New Jersey Sharing Network and Team Liberty were amazing hosts and a good time was had by all!
2018 • Salt Lake City
August 2-7, 2018
Team Liberty represented NJ, NY, and CT in Salt Lake City, UT in August 2018, bringing home an impressive 95 medals, including 38 gold medals! In total, 133 Team Liberty members joined us in Salt Lake City. 36 transplant recipients and 8 living donors attended the Transplant Games of America as athletes to compete with over 40 teams from all over the United States in various individual and team sporting events. In addition, Team Liberty proudly brought 17 donor family members, 44 supporters, and 28 donation/transplantation professionals to the Games.
2016 • Cleveland
June 10-15, 2016
Team Liberty represented NJ, NY, and CT in Cleveland, OH in June 2016, bringing home an impressive 75 medals! In total, 100 Team Liberty members joined us in Cleveland. 35 transplant recipients and 6 living donors attended the Transplant Games of America as athletes to compete with over 40 teams from all over the United States in various individual and team sporting events. In addition, Team Liberty proudly brought 9 donor family members, 44 supporters, and 5 donation/transplantation professionals to the Games.
2014 • Houston
July 11-15, 2014
Team Liberty represented NJ, NY, and CT in Houston, Texas in July 2014, bringing home an impressive 66 medals! In total, 88 Team Liberty members joined us in Houston. 28 transplant recipients competed as athletes. Additionally, the 2014 Games were the first games in which living donors competed as athletes, and Team Liberty brought 7 living donors with us. We also had 13 donor family members, 35 supporters, and 5 donation/transplantation professionals. We competed with over 40 teams from all over the United States in various individual and team sporting events.
